#SausageShowcase on the Plain Jane

Our first ever Not Dog, the Plain Jane is actually not so plain! It just happened that Not Dogs co-founder Jane enjoys a simple Not Dog and the 'Plain Jane' was created in her honour!

Quorn Bratwurst topped with Heinz Ketchup and French's Mustard

At Not Dogs we only use quality ingredients, things we use ourselves at home and we knew when creating the simplest of Not Dogs that high quality was key which is why we're passionate about both Heinz and French's.

We did try various tomato ketchups and different types of mustards but these two were the perfect combination on the Plain Jane. It's fantastic when customers who may be a little wary of mustard try French's on the Plain Jane and just love it! Plus, the red and yellow look great together - another important part of creating the perfect Not Dog every time!

The Lowdown on the Not Dogs Menu

Our little restaurant in Birmingham’s Bullring has now been open for 8 weeks and we’ve been so lucky to welcome lots of Not Dogs customers through the doors to enjoy our menu items. Over the short amount of time we’ve been open we love to listen to our fans and are planning on expanding the menu but, for now, we thought we’d share a few highlights…

The Secret Stars!
Alongside our original Not Dogs menu of six different Not Dogs, we have a few items which are just too good to miss…

Loaded Waffle Fries - our tasty, lightly seasoned baked potato lattices are even better fully loaded with…
Kickin’ Katie Nacho Dog (guacamole, grated cheddar, nachos and jalapeƱos)
The Original Frank (Heinz Ketchup, French’s Mustard, American cheese sauce and house-made beer-fried onions)
Hello Houmous (houmous, roasted red peppers and smoked paprika)
Cha-Cha Chilli (house-made chilli-con-carne)
Ticklish Tikka (vegan tikka masala with crushed popadoms and coriander)

Beau the Banana Brioche Dog - as a light, sweet option, the little Beau Dog features a freetrade banana in a steamed brioche bun topped with whipped cream, chocolate sauce and sprinkles of gold stars

The Vegan Range
Across the menu we’ve made sure our vegan friends are not left out so, choose from…

The Vegan Dog - our must-try, lightly smoked seitan-based hotdog topped with ‘veganized’ toppings such as…
Kickin’ Katie Nacho Dog and The Original Frank (drop the cheese), Plain Jane, Hello Houmous or our favourite the Ticklish Tikka made with vegan pieces in a house-made, creamy coconut masala sauce

The Gluten-Free Options
Of course, we want everyone to be able to enjoy Not Dogs so we’ve introduced a gluten-free wrap to replace our toasted hotdog bun for a gluten-free option. We’re working on getting a tasty gluten-free bun but the wrap is a nice, lighter option anyway. As well as that, there’s no nuts of the menu at Not Dogs and we offer options with no dairy too!

Depending on what delicious toppings you pick, our rather large Not Dogs range from 340 calories and go up to 545 calories. Sides come in at 300 calories a portion and our ‘sweet treat’ Beau the Banana Brioche Dog just 230 calories.

We’re looking forward to adding lots more yummy Not Dogs menu items soon!

Not Dogs' #SausageSelfie Competition

One of our favourite things has been collecting hundreds of #SausageSelfie pictures at various festivals and pop-ups up and down the country and now… we’d like to extend the tradition at our first restaurant in Birmingham’s Bullring!

Post your #SausageSelfie (it doesn’t have to be a selfie, just a photo of you, you and your friends, family, even your dog enjoying a Not Dog or another one of our menu items), tag us in across social media using the hashtag #SausageSelfie and each month we’ll pick our favourite to win a prize!

We’ll mix up the prizes but whether it’s a meal at Not Dogs on us, an exclusive Not Dogs apron or an invite to one of our parties, we’re sure it’ll be worth it!

Look forward to seeing your #SausageSelfie faces!

Dragons' Den Gets Not Dogged!

Wow, what an overwhelming week we have had at Not Dogs! Dragons Den aired last Sunday and the response we have had has been so positive and encouraging, we almost can’t quite believe it!

We filmed the show back in May and up until a few weeks ago we didn’t know if our little adventure at the BBC would ever see the light of day (we also didn’t know whether that would be a good or bad thing!).

We had the most fantastic experience with the BBC team at Dragons Den, so much goes in to making the show and every single person we met made our day that little bit funnier and calmed our nerves. We also put them under pressure with our insistence on cooking the Not Dogs right before we entered the lift to give the Dragons the total Not Dogs experience!

We prepared Not Dogs for all of the Dragons, with them all enjoying our best-selling The Original Frank and a special gluten-free version for Nick Jones. Once they’d all taken a bite and we saw the smiles across their faces we let out a sigh of relief as the most important thing to us was that they enjoyed our Not Dogs menu.

We can’t thank all our current and new Not Dogs fans enough for all the support you have shown us following our appearance, we have so many messages, tweets and emails to reply to which we are in the process of doing, so bear with us!

We are very proud to have opened our restaurant now at LinkStreet, Bullring in Birmingham and we can’t wait to see what this year will bring!

Thank you to everyone that has helped us to get where we are today.
