Meat Free this May!

National Vegetarian Week is great for encouraging meat-eaters to reduce their consumption of meat just a little… not only for health benefits but also for the environment and our furry friends!

Even one day a week (or indeed a month/year!) helps, here are a few simple tips to get you started:

Try a new veggie recipe every week - if you enjoy cooking why not make at least one of the dishes you prepare meat free. Soon you’ll have a list of some great recipes that you love to cook and eat on your meat free days.

Substitutions - suppose you guessed we’d mention meat alternatives but honestly, places like Not Dogs and products like Quorn, Linda McCartney & VBites are a helpful and tasty transition from meat to meat free… you can go on eating what you’d normally eat but meatless!

Tell friends and family - if you really want to make this commitment, then it’s great to have the support of people around you so tell them your reasons why in a positive way. You can still enjoy delicious food together… you never know, you might inspire a few others.

We’d love to hear your veggie tips so please get in touch on social media! And of course, would love to see you at Not Dogs LinkStreet over National Vegetarian Week!

Plain Jane Jumps for WWF! **UPDATE: She did it!**

**UPDATE: She's only gone and done it! Scroll to the end of this post to read all about it!**

As a life-long supporter of WWF (and animals in general!) Not Dogs co-founder Jane is ticking off something that’s been on her bucket list while raising money for her favourite charity… she’s skydiving!

Jumping 13,000 feet out of a plane is a fear of Jane’s and because it’s a fear… she’s making herself do it! There was no contest when thinking which charity she’d like to support, Jane has already ‘adopted’ a panda and a tiger from WWF and knew she had to do something a bit daring to deserve your donations!

Jane was inspired by Kickin’ Katie who skydived in New Zealand in 2010 and just loved it! Let’s hope Jane feels the same way!

Why WWF? We’ve reached a critical point - our planet is under pressure like never before. In less than 50 years our global wildlife populations have declined by more than half.

WWF is at the heart of global efforts to address the world’s most important environmental challenges: safeguarding the natural world, tackling climate change and enabling people to use only their fair share of natural resources.

Katie & Jane and everyone at Not Dogs would be forever grateful if you could donate to Jane’s Just Giving page at https://www.justgiving.com/fundraising/janeyateswwf. No matter how big or small, every penny raised will help WWF tackle threats to amazing wildlife and their habitats around the world. For example…

£3 pays for a community based anti-poaching patrol protecting tigers in Nepal for one day

£10 could help fund the training of a boat crew member on smarter fishing methods to reduce their impact on marine wildlife

Head over to social media for updates on Plain Jane’s jump for WWF and of course for her thoughts after the big day in June!

**UPDATE** From Plain Jane...

Well, that was amazing, scary, weird, invigorating, crazy, unreal! Falling through the clouds at 120mph is something I will never forget and, I encourage everyone to do!

The mix of noise and complete craziness when you're about to jump and while falling through the air to the peace (and relief!) you feel when your parachute catches the wind is simply indescribable - what a feeling!

Hinton Skydiving Centre made the whole thing seamless, enjoyable and in turn, me less nervous! I would skydive back there in a heartbeat... maybe a change in vocation - Plain Jane - Skydive Instructor!?

Again, thank you to everyone who sponsored me - it made the jump even more memorable and I know WWF is very grateful.
