Hello Houmous Not Dog (serves 4)

Our deli-dog the perfect healthy treat this January, our house-made houmous recipe is packed with plant-based protein and high in fibre for digestive and gut health. Whether you choose to enjoy this on a Not Dog (our favourite way!), with vegetable sticks or spread onto a sandwich this recipe is sure to be a top #Veganuary recipe!

Ingredients
200g/7oz canned chickpeas
1 tsp smoked paprika
1 tbsp tahini
2 tbsp lemon juice
4 tbsp water
2 garlic cloves, crushed
1 tsp ground cumin
pinch salt
Roasted red peppers

Plus:
4 hot dog rolls
4 of your favourite vegan sausages

Method
  1. Cook sausages according to packet instructions
  2. While they’re doing, drain the chickpeas and rinse
  3. Add the chickpeas, lemon juice, cumin, salt, tahini, and water in a food processor
  4. Crush the garlic and add to the mix
  5. Blend to a creamy consistency and taste for extra seasoning
  6. Slice the red peppers into thin strips and put aside
  7. Once your sausages are cooked, it’s Not Dog assembly time…
  • Carefully put each sausage in a roll
  • Now get creative - add a swirl of houmous (approximately 1 tbsp), use a spoon to spread it across to get a good covering
  • Place the red peppers on top of the houmous
  • Finish off with a sprinkling of smoked paprika
